Downspout Conductor Heads

Conductor heads handle water volume to prevent drainage system failures.

Conductor heads handle water volume to prevent drainage system failures.

Conductor heads were primarily designed for houses with high roof lines, to deal with a volume of water in a way that would prevent drainage system failure.

Specifically, multi-story downspouts which are attached directly to a gutter can be difficult to clear if debris begins to clog it.  Typically, the entire downspout has to be removed to find and clear any blockage.

But the real danger in this situation is that a blocked downspout will cause a gutter to remain filled with water, and sometimes for an extended period of time.  The resulting weight can strain the gutter hangers and fasteners, sometimes for the full length of the gutter.

A homeowner may not even realize there is a problem until the gutter is noticeably damaged, or has fallen off.

Conductor Heads solve this problem, protecting the investment in a quality guttering system. With this system, water moves from the gutter into a short downspout leading into the open-topped Conductor Head.  A clog occurring anywhere within the downspout will not interfere with the water that needs to exit the gutter.  Instead, water can only back up as far as the Conductor Head, and then it will exit through a relief hole in the Conductor Head.

The spout on the front of the Conductor Head is designed to shoot the water away from the wall of the house.  This way, the gutter is not required to bear the weight of a clog. In addition, water spurting from a Conductor Head indicates to the homeowner that a clog exists.

Custom Leaf-Guards for Guttering

Leaf-Guards can be custom-built to eliminate the need to clean leaf build-up in guttering. This makes guttering virtually maintenance-free for the life of the installation. The gallery below shows how water flowing off the roof follows the curve of the copper, right into the gutter, while leaves cannot enter it.
